The fact that many parks of Reims contain approximately 440 000 plants is not a mere coincidence: the city of coronations lies in the first floral department of France. The department Marne has indeed 103 communes ranked 1 to 4 flowers. Reims is also the winner of the 2005 Award for Collective gardens flowering.
True artistic and natural assets, Reims parks are among the most popular spots for city dwellers. You will find below the most remarkable of them: Parc Léo Lagrange, Parc de la Patte d'oie, Pierre-Schneiter Horticultural garden and Parc de Champagne.
The "Coulée verte", a wide band of greenery that crosses the city from north-west to south-east, follows the courses of the River Vesle and the Aisne-Marne Canal. Although still under development, it has already become a very popular recreational and entertainment area for walkers, joggers and cyclists.
The Parc naturel régional de la Montagne de Reims, hiking paradise located in the outskirts of the city, has been created in 1976. It includes the spectacular site of the Faux de Verzy.
